Geheimnisvolle Landschaften, Zelte und Ruinen, Wälder und Strände, seltsame Wesen oder abwesende Menschen findet man in den dennoch sehr unterschiedlichen Arbeiten von Christine Boillat und Nina Haab. Während Christine Boillats Kohlezeichnungen eine intuitive, persönliche Ikonografie aufbauen, die um Themen wie Erinnerung, Trauma und Rituale kreist, ist Nina Haabs Praxis forschungsorientiert: Ihr Zugang zu Landschaft und Erinnerung entsteht durch die Begegnung mit realen Orten, Menschen und Geschichten, die sie in verschiedenen Medien, von der Zeichnung bis zum Video, verarbeitet. Für diese Ausstellung zeigen beide Künstlerinnen Ausschnitte aus ihrem jeweils eigenen Kosmos, inszenieren sich aber auch Dialog miteinander.

Christine Boillat, geboren 1978 in Lausanne, lebt und arbeitet in Genf. Sie schloss ihren Master an der Haute Ecole d'Art et Design (HEAD) in Genf 2005 mit Auszeichnung der Jury ab. 2006 stellte sie beim Swiss Art Award aus und gewann den Bourse du Fonds Cantonal d'art contemporain (FCAC). Es folgten mehrere Einzelausstellungen darunter bei Espace Kugler Genève (2016) und Konstapoteket Stockholm (2012) und Gruppenausstellungen u.a. in der Villa Dutoit Genève (2016) und im Dienstgebäude Zürich (2013) sowie Messebeteiligungen an der Volta Basel (2016) und mit DuflonRacz an der Abu Dhabi Art (2014). Für die Arbeit Silent Circus, die für die gleichnamige Ausstellung in der Galerie DuflonRacz (Oktober 2014) entstand, wurde Christine Boillat im April 2015 mit dem Prix de Dessin de l'Institut National Genevois ausgezeichnet.

Nina Haab, *1985 in Bellinzona, lebt und arbeitet in Genf, wo sie mit einem BA und MA in Bildender Kunst an der Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design (HEAD) abschloss. 2012 wurde sie mit dem Swiss Art Award ausgezeichnet, 2015 – 2016 mit der ABA Residency der Pro Helvetia in Berlin. Einzelaustellungen u.a. bei Kunstwerke Berlin (2016), Kreuzberg Pavilion Berlin (2015), Sonnenstube Lugano (mit Nino Baumgartner, 2014), standard/deluxe Lausanne (2013) und la rada Locarno (2011). Ihre Arbeiten waren unter anderem in Gruppenausstellungen im Kunsthaus Langenthal (2017), im Kunstmuseum Luzern (2015), Art en plein air Motiers (2015) und im Helmhaus Zürich (2011) vertreten. 2019 war sie für Mobiliar Kunstpreis Genf nominiert.

Mysterious landscapes, tents and ruins, forests and beaches, strange beings or absent people are some of the visual themes that resonate in the otherwise very different work of the two artists Christine Boillat and Nina Haab. While Boillat’s dense graphite drawings develop an intuitive, personal iconography centred on questions of memory, imagination, trauma and ritual, Nina Haab’s practice is research-based, exploring and documenting territories in various media ranging from drawing to video. For this exhibition, each artist presents excerpts from their own visual cosmos, while creating a dialogue between their work centred on the poetics of memory, history and place.

Christine Boillat was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1978. She lives and works in Geneva. Boillat received an MA from Haute Ecole d'Art et Design (HEAD) Geneva with the recommendation of the jury in 2005. In 2006 she exhibited at the Swiss Art Awards and received the Geneva City and Cantonal Fund for Contemporary Art (FCAC)'s Prize. She participated in several group exhibitions e.g. at Villa Dutoit Genève (2016) and at Dienstgebäude Zürich (2013) as well as fairs such as Volta Basel (2016) and with DuflonRacz at Abu Dhabi Art (2014); her solo exhibitions include at Espace Kugler Geneva in 2016 and at Konstapoteket Stockholm (2012). For the drawing Silent Circus, created for the eponymous exhibition at DuflonRacz gallery (October 2014) the artist was awarded the Prix de Dessin of the Institut National Genevois in 2015.

In 2012, she won a Swiss Art Award and in 2015-16 she was invited to participate at ABA residency in Berlin, supported by Pro Helvetia. Her recent solo exhibitions include projects at Kunstwerke Berlin (2016), Kreuzberg Pavilion Berlin (2015), Sonnenstube Lugano (with Nino Baumgartner, 2014), standard/deluxe Lausanne (2013) and la rada Locarno (2011). Her work has been included in group shows in Kunsthaus Langenthal (2017), Kunstmuseum Luzern (2015), Art en plein air Motiers (2015) and Helmhaus Zurich (2011) among others. In 2019 she was nominated for the Prix Mobilière in Geneva.
