Den dunklen Raum der Galerie bespielt die Multimedia-Künstlerin Anouk Sebald mit ihrer neuen Videoarbeit Extrinsic (2022).

Eine komplexe, malerische Bild- und Tonlandschaft untersucht die Wahrnehmung von Körpern – den eigenen, und den der anderen –  im Raum. Wie unterscheidet sich die Wahrnehmung von aussen vom inneren Erleben? Wie verändert unsere Umgebung die Wahrnehmung des eigenen Körpers? Das Video lädt zum Eintauchen in eine sinnliche Erfahrung ein, die bezaubert und gleichzeitig zum Denken anregt.

In the dark space of the gallery, multimedia artist Anouk Sebald presents a brandnew video piece. Extrinsic (2022) invites us to step into a sensually complex landscape of images and sounds. The piece employs one-shot footage of the artist’s body in two different settings, using a green screen to isolate movements and body parts. Her clever use of digital layering technology and vivid colour creates a compelling exploration of physical perception, from the inside and outside of our own bodies and others. The video provides an immersive, physically and visually stimulating experience that also encourages us to think about ways of perceiving (with) our bodies – an aspect that seems especially relevant in the wake of our physical adaptations to and isolation as a consequence of the pandemic.
